The Karnataka State Open University was established in 1996, keeping in view the educational needs of our country in general and the Karnataka State, in particular. It is the eighth Open University in the country and a recognised member-university of the Distance Education Council (DEC), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities as well as Commonwealth Universities Association.  The University offers a wide-range of certificate, diploma and degree programmes upto the doctoral level. Karnataka State Open University today commands a strength of over 1 lakh students from all over India.

Karnataka State Open University has re-scheduled the PGDCT Course End Examination 2009 from November 26th to December 26th 2009.
